Member of Parliament for La Dade-Kotopon and Deputy Minister for Local Government, Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, has extended relief support to 100 victims of the June 29 floods in Tse Addo.
She explained that beyond the 100 beneficiaries, she is collaborating with the assembly, other stakeholders, and the presidency to reach more affected residents.
The torrential rains on June 29 left large parts of Tse Addo submerged, disrupting the movement of residents, motorists, and pedestrians.
Speaking to the media during the distribution, the MP said:
“The floods hit my constituency in a devastating way, and there’s no way I can look on while victims suffer. I chose to mark my birthday by providing relief to 100 victims.”
The items distributed included rice, oil, soap, and cloth. She noted that while additional support is being provided by the assembly and the presidency, her gesture was meant to bring smiles to victims who have lost much to the disaster.
Municipal Chief Executive for La Dade-Kotopon, Alfredos Nii Anyetei, added that the assembly has begun removing structures blocking waterways and dredging drains to prevent future flooding.
