At least 16 people are feared dead after a head-on collision between an ambulance and a Ford Transit bus at Potrikrom in the Ahafo Ano South-East District of the Ashanti Region.
Eyewitnesses say the Ford Transit (GT 6576–19), traveling from Kumasi to Bechem, collided with an ambulance (GV 527–23) coming from the opposite direction. The crash, reportedly caused by excessive speed, left both vehicles mangled, with most bus passengers believed to have died instantly.

Kwabena Stephen, a witness, described the scene as horrifying, noting that some bodies were severely dismembered and placed in polythene bags. MTTD officers transported the victims to mortuaries in Mankranso and Adugyama.
Reports suggest the ambulance, thought to belong to St. Mary’s Catholic Hospital at Drobo, was overtaking another vehicle when the collision occurred.
Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, extended his condolences to the victims’ families. The Potrikrom community remains in shock as authorities investigate the tragedy and clear the road.
