2024/25 GPL: Nations complete double over Kotoko, Karela hold Hearts, GoldStars leave it late: Gameweek 28 wrap-up

Nations FC recorded a 2-0 win against Asante Kotoko at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Complex, completing the double over the Porcupine Warriors. Nafiu Sulemana opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a pile driver from outside the box, before Emmanuel Annor doubled the lead in the dying embers of the first half.

Hearts held by relegation-threatened Karela

Hearts of Oak’s inconsistent form continued as they were held to a goalless draw by relegation-threatened Karela United. Despite dominating possession, Hearts failed to seriously threaten the Karela goal.

They now sit 7th on the table, while Karela remain 15th, just one place above the drop zone.

Late winner keeps GoldStars on top

Bibiani GoldStars left it late to secure a 1-0 victory over Medeama, maintaining their place at the summit of the league. Samuel Attah Kumi scored the decisive goal from the penalty spot after Vincent Atingah had earlier missed from a similar opportunity.

Holy Stars edge Legon Cities to boost survival hopes

Basake Holy Stars climbed five points clear of the relegation zone after a narrow 1-0 win over Legon Cities. Issah Yakubu scored the only goal of the game.

Holy Stars now occupy 13th place with 33 points, while Legon Cities sit 17th with just 25 points.

Dreams FC halt losing streak with draw

Dreams FC ended a run of two straight defeats with a 1-1 home draw against Vision FC. Jonathan Nemordeen gave Dreams the lead in the 51st minute, but Emmanuel Akansase equalized six minutes later.

Chelsea edge Bechem in first-half thriller

Bechem United suffered their second defeat of the season, losing 2-1 to Berekum Chelsea. Vincent Adjei put Chelsea ahead in the 3rd minute, Darlvin Yeboah equalized in the 35th, but Chelsea retook the lead in the 42nd minute through Jonah Attuquaye.

Bechem remain in 8th place with 43 points, while Chelsea climb to 9th with 38 points.

Young Apostles and Samartex share the spoils

Young Apostles and Samartex played out a thrilling 1-1 draw. Emmanuel Fosu Kyei opened the scoring for the Apostles in the 69th minute, but Samartex responded quickly through Emmanuel Mamah in the 77th minute.

Samartex move up to 6th, while Young Apostles remain 12th.

Heart of Lions roar past Accra Lions

Heart of Lions boosted their title hopes with a commanding 3-1 home win over Accra Lions. Yaw Danso opened the scoring in the 7th minute, and Nana Oppong struck twice in the second half to make it 3-0. David Akintunde grabbed a late consolation for Accra Lions.
