Record holders Accra Hearts of Oak defeated lower-tier side Immigration FC 4-0 to advance to the round of 32 in the 2024/25 MTN FA Cup.
The first half ended without goals, although Hearts of Oak dominated and created many chances but couldn’t convert. Just a few minutes into the second half, Martin Karikari broke the deadlock for the Phobians.
Mawuli Wayo then scored in the 62nd minute to make it 2-0, and just six minutes later, he added another, lobbing the ball over the goalkeeper for the team’s third goal.
Later in the match, Stephen Appiah Asare sealed the victory with a fourth goal, ending the game at 4-0 for the Phobians.
Asante Kotoko also moved on to the next round after beating Future Stars FC 2-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium, with Albert Amoah netting both goals in the second half.
Dreams FC advanced by defeating Heart of Lions 4-3 on penalties after a goalless draw in Tuba. GoldStars won 2-0 away against Samartex, while Aduana FC, Legon Cities, and Vision were surprisingly eliminated at home by lower-tier teams.
Medeama, Accra Lions, Nsoatreman, Berekum Chelsea, Bechem United, Holy Stars and so on also secured their spots in the last 32.
