The Accra Forestry Commission depot in Achimota has reportedly been broken into by some individuals, who took several valuable items with them.
The intruders stormed the facility early this morning while chanting, “Our government is now in power,” while wearing National Democratic Congress (NDC) branded shirts, according to sources who asked not to be named.
Among the stolen goods are 24 air conditioners, laptops, and other necessary Commission equipment. Additionally, the intruders made an unsuccessful attempt to take the keys to recently purchased cars.
Security at state-owned properties has come under scrutiny due to the break-in, especially in light of the political changes that followed the 2024 elections. If the incident has anything to do with the current political situation, authorities have not yet confirmed this.
In order to restore order, the police were promptly called and arrived on the scene. Since then, they have guarded the area and started looking into the theft.
