Attram De Visser secured their first-ever semifinal appearance in the MTN FA Cup, defeating PAC Academy 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.
PAC Academy took the lead in the 63rd minute with a penalty converted by skipper Evans Sarfo. However, Gabriel Matumassey equalized in the 93rd minute, sending the match to penalties.
Goalkeeper Abdul Manaf Ibrahim, who came on after the equalizer, emerged as the hero for Attram De Visser, saving two penalties.
Berekum Chelsea also secured a spot in the semifinals with a 1-0 win over Bechem United. Stephen Amankona scored the only goal of the game in the 30th minute, finishing a flick from returnee Jonah Attuquaye past goalkeeper Aziz Adaari.
Ten-man Golden Kick FC defeated another Premier League side to continue their journey in the FA Cup. After beating Hearts of Oak in the previous round, the Division One side this time defeated Karela United 5-3 in a penalty shootout after a scoreless draw.
Golden Kick’s Zakaria Mumuni was sent off in the 83rd minute for a second yellow card, but they held on to force the game into penalties, where they eventually triumphed. Former Hearts of Oak captain Fatawu Mohammed was the unfortunate casualty in the shootout.
Asante Kotoko advanced to the semifinals after a last-minute 2-1 win over True Democracy. Kotoko took the lead early in the 13th minute through Saaka Dauda but missed a chance to double their advantage when Justice Blay’s penalty hit the post.
True Democracy equalized in the 62nd minute with Isaac Botchway’s deflected free-kick. In stoppage time, Kwame Opoku scored the decisive goal, sending Kotoko through to face Berekum Chelsea on Sunday, May 11.
In the second semifinal on Saturday, May 10, Attram De Visser will face Golden Kick in an all-Division One Zone Three clash. Both games will be played at Tarkwa TNA Park.
