2025 ITF AFRICA JUNIOR CAMP: Ghana’s Emmanuel Amosogo Amobire Storms into Final

Ghana’s rising wheelchair tennis sensation, Emmanuel Amosogo Amobire, delivered a flawless performance to storm into the finals of the 2025 ITF Africa Junior Camp and Tournament in Johannesburg, South Africa, after thrashing home favourite Sioga Olugaho in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, in the semifinals.

Amobire’s dominant display left no doubt about his growing stature on the African tennis circuit, as he controlled the match from start to finish with powerful serves, precise returns, and unmatched agility on court. His relentless consistency forced numerous errors from Olugaho, who struggled to keep pace with the Ghanaian’s commanding rhythm.

The victory secures Amobire’s place in the gold medal match, where he will aim to crown an impressive campaign with the championship title. It also marks a significant milestone for Ghanaian wheelchair tennis, showcasing the nation’s progress and potential in the sport at the continental level.

Speaking after the match, Ghana’s coach Thomas Youkaah praised Amobire’s focus and determination, describing the win as “a proud moment not just for the player, but for Ghana as a whole.” He added that the team’s journey in Johannesburg has been “inspiring and deeply motivating for other young Ghanaian athletes.”

The 2025 ITF Africa Junior Camp, organized under the International Tennis Federation (ITF), brings together the best young wheelchair tennis players from across the continent to develop their skills, gain international exposure, and compete at the highest level.

As Amobire prepares for the final, hopes are high that he can cap his outstanding run with a historic gold medal, further elevating Ghana’s profile in international wheelchair tennis.
