Eezzy Group Limited has donated a brand-new pickup truck and 20 motorcycles to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) to support preparations for the 42nd National Farmers’ Day celebration, reaffirming the private sector’s growing commitment to Ghana’s agricultural transformation.
The donation, made on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 forms part of the prize package for outstanding farmers during the national celebration scheduled for December 4, 2026, in the Bono Region.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Ministry, Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku described the gesture as a significant boost to government’s efforts to properly recognize and reward Ghanaian farmers.
He stressed that agriculture remains the backbone of the country’s economy, noting that food security is fundamental to national development.
“When agriculture goes wrong, nothing else in this country can go right because every Ghanaian depends on food,” the Minister said, adding that government is determined to ensure farmers receive the recognition they deserve for feeding the nation.
Mr. Opoku disclosed that this year’s National Best Farmer will receive the newly donated pickup truck, GH¢1.2 million in cash, a brand-new tractor and assorted farm inputs—making the 2026 award package the most attractive in the history of the celebration.
He further revealed that MoFA had earlier received two additional pickup trucks and a 50-seater bus from other corporate organizations, with more donations expected in the coming months.
The Minister assured the public that all donations received would be presented directly to deserving farmers, emphasizing that the Ministry would ensure transparency and accountability throughout the process.
Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture, John Setor Dumelo, who welcomed guests at the ceremony, praised Eezzy Group for supporting Ghanaian farmers through the donation.
He said the pickup truck and motorcycles would serve as productive assets for award winners, helping them expand their farming activities while encouraging excellence across the agricultural sector.
Chief Executive Officer of Eezzy Group Limited, Mohammed Raii, said the company’s contribution was inspired by its belief that agriculture is the foundation of life and national development.
He commended President John Dramani Mahama for prioritizing agriculture and reaffirmed Eezzy Group’s commitment to supporting initiatives that improve the livelihoods of Ghanaian farmers.
The company also announced plans to donate a brand-new tractor with accessories to the Ministry.
The 42nd National Farmers’ Day celebration is expected to attract increased corporate participation as government intensifies efforts to mobilize resources to reward farmers and promote agricultural production across the country.
