Former Black Stars winger David Accam has called on Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz to adopt a firm and demanding approach as the national team steps up preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Queiroz, the experienced Portuguese tactician, was appointed in April on a short-term contract to replace Otto Addo, with expectations high that he can guide the Black Stars back to competitiveness on the international stage.
Accam believes the 73-year-old’s wealth of experience at both national team and club level makes him the right man to lead Ghana into a new era. However, he insists that success will depend on the coach’s ability to establish discipline, authority and a fresh direction within the squad.
Speaking to Graphic Sports, Accam expressed confidence in Queiroz’s credentials and ability to handle the pressure that comes with managing Ghana.
“Carlos Queiroz is a big coach. He has coached top teams and countries, so I do not think this challenge is too big for him,” Accam said.
“He has the experience. What he needs to do is be firm, stamp his authority on the team and bring something different from what we have seen before.”
