A 23 year old man has drowned in the Afram River after spending days wandering nearby.
The man, identified as Anthony and believed to be from Kwahu Tease, had reportedly been seen moving around the area for about two days before his death. Residents said he appeared distressed and was known to be dealing with minor mental health challenges.
The local assembly member, Sampson Kpitsi Aban, noticed Anthony and began efforts to trace his family. His parents were eventually contacted and informed of his whereabouts, but they were unable to reach him in time.
Between the morning and midday of the following day, Anthony was found to have drowned in the river. The exact circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.
Police officers have visited the scene and have begun preliminary investigations.
Anthony’s family is said to be travelling to the area to make arrangements following the incident.
