26-year-old lady allegedly murdered by boyfriend in Kumasi

A 26-year-old lady has been gunned down by an assailant on Thursday evening, at Adum in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.

The deceased, Victoria Dapaah, popularly called Maabena, according to family sources, against her brother’s advice left her home after receiving a phone call from the suspected assailant.

Upon meeting, an argument ensued between the assailant and the victim after which she was shot five times.

Multiple sources say the assailant was in a relationship with Maabena.

Patrick Yeboah, the Assembly member for the area tells the media he was astonished by the episode, stating that the neighborhood is relatively peaceful.

He said. “Such an incident has never happened here before. It was only once some police officers shot a criminal dead in the area. Aside that, nothing of this sort happens here,”

The deceased‘s grieving mother, Adwoa Nyarko, wants justice for her daughter.

“Ghana Police [Service], please resolve this issue for me. My valuable possession has been ruined. It’s so painful to toil in vain,” she said.

Narrating what happened that fateful day, Madam Nyarko recalls that “My child didn’t go anywhere. She was home and got a phone call, his brother asked him not to go and she said, ‘I’m not going far’. She stepped out for a few minutes and she was shot dead. My heart is breaking.”

Meanwhile, the body has been deposited at the mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
