27th TGMA: Black Sherif takes home Artiste of the Year award

Black Sherif emerged as the biggest winner at the 27th edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards 2026, clinching the coveted Artiste of the Year award at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday night [May 9, 2026].

Born Mohammed Ismail Sherif, professionally known as Black Sherif capped off an impressive night with multiple wins across major categories, cementing his place among Ghana’s top music acts.

In addition to the ultimate prize, Black Sherif won Album of the Year for Iron Boy, Songwriter of the Year, Afropop Song of the Year for Sacrifice, and Hip-Hop Song of the Year for Where Dem Boys.

The victory marks his second Artiste of the Year triumph after previously winning the award in 2023.

Other notable winners on the night included Medikal, who took home Hiplife Song of the Year for Shoulder, Best Collaboration of the Year, and Hip-Hop Artiste of the Year.

Kofi Kinaata also enjoyed a successful evening, winning Highlife Song of the Year with It Is Finished and Highlife Artiste of the Year.

In the reggae and dancehall category, Stonebwoy retained his Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year title, while Diana Hamilton was named Gospel Artiste of the Year.

The ceremony also honoured late highlife legend Daddy Lumba with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
