2nd edition of Super Volleyball Championship kicks off at Bukom Boxing Boxing Arena

After the successful organization of the maiden edition of the Super Volleyball championship, many within the volleyball fraternity urged the organizers to push further to enhance indoor competition in the country.

Following a series of feverish preparations, the opening day of the 2nd edition of the annual Super Volleyball Championship took place at the Ga Mashie Hall of the Trust Sport Emporium in Accra.

The games set to take place from the 21st to the 23rd of December are expected to offer all volleyball fanatics nothing but thrilling and mouthwatering matchups of high-quality volleyball.
6 women’s teams as well as 6 men’s teams are participating in the second edition of the volleyball championship to see who’s crowned the ultimate winner in both categories.

Ghana Air’s Force, Army, El-Walk Wings, Immigration, Police, and Fire Service will be competing for the ultimate prize in the women’s division whiles in the men’s category, El Walk Wings, Air Force, Tema City, Police, Immanuel Presby, and Army will be contesting for the prize.

The preliminary round of the competition sees all teams from both categories grouped into 2 groups(pools) made up of 3 teams.

The opening game of the championship saw Army women defeat Air Force 3 – 2 in a mouthwatering 5-set thriller, while EL-Wak Wings Women toppled Immigration Women 3-0 in a best of 5 games.

In the men’s category, Police Men defeated El Wak Wings 3-1.

The President of Ghana Volleyball Federation, George Tetteh, speaking to Metro TV in an interview said “the tournament has been perfect. We are improving on what we did last season, you can see the passion some of these players exude, which makes them struggle for a point.”

Founder and Lead Organizer of the Super Volleyball championship, Mohammed Aputeog in an interview added that the tournament has been amazing, and a lot of teams have been beefing up their squad for the games.

El Wak Winks captain Joana Mensah was impressed with their performance and says she is optimistic they can win the title.
