Three individuals have been arrested and taken into police custody for allegedly violating a directive issued by the Paramount Chief of the Damongo Traditional Area, Damongowura Boresah Kelly Seidu I.
They were arrested for killing a cow at their private residence against an earlier order.
The paramount chief had on 18 th September banned the sale of kebab, popularly known as “chinchinga,” to curb rising cases of livestock theft in the area.
The ban which remains in force until further notice stipulates that any animal slaughtered outside the West Gonja Municipal Assembly abattoir is considered stolen.
The youth of Damongo have been on the watch for individuals who flout the ban since Friday.
The Youth Chief of Damongo Mbonwura Lukman Salifu confirmed the arrests, stating that the suspects were caught and handed over to the police.
They are currently in police cells, and investigations are ongoing.
