Three persons have died in an accident at Gomoa Mprumem on the Winneba-Apam Junction stretch of the N1 Highway.
12 other passengers who were onboard the vehicle also sustained various injuries and are currently being treated at the Trauma and Specialist, and the Winneba Municipal hospitals.
According to the Apam District Fire Officer DOII Kwasi Anthony, the Kaneshie-Takoradi bound Toyota Hiace mini bus with registration 805-24 somersaulted and caught fire after one of the rear tires of the vehicle bursted causing the speeding driver to lose grip of the steering wheel.
He has attributed the rampant accidents on the stretch to speeding and disregard for traffic signs by drivers.
