Be transparent, don’t suppress the truth – Prof. Opoku-Agyemang cautions EC

The National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) running mate, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has urged the Electoral Commission to make sure that the next general elections are held in a free, fair, and transparent way.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang addressed concerns regarding the recent limited registration and voter transfer activities, which were tainted by violent episodes. She emphasized the significance of putting policies in place to stop similar situations from happening in the future.

“Ghana’s democracy has over the years been the envy of many countries due to its nature of organising free and fair elections but the violence that characterised the country’s elections in recent times is worrying,” she stated.

She made these comments as part of a one-day tour of the Abuakwa North Constituency in the Eastern Region, during a courtesy call on Osabarima Adusei Peasah IV, the Chief of Akyem Tafo.

Additionally, in order to guarantee a peaceful election, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang called for traditional leaders to participate actively in the electoral process and to express their worries.
