A 70-year-old farmer from the Sekyere Central district in the Ashanti Region, Nana Owusu Achiaw Brempong, has been crowned the National Best Farmer for 2024.
With an impressive 50-year farming career under his belt, Nana Owusu has built a legacy that inspires others in the agricultural sector.
His North American Farms employs 168 workers and cultivates a diverse range of crops, including cocoa and cashew, making significant contributions to Ghana’s economy.
In recognition of his outstanding achievements, Nana Owusu received a prestigious award and one million Ghana cedis.
During the Farmers Day celebration on Friday, November 8, Nana Owusu emphasized the importance of prioritizing food security, urging the government and private sector to collaborate in creating a more resilient agricultural system.
He stressed that investing in local agriculture is crucial to meeting Ghana’s food production needs and reducing reliance on imports.
