The 9th Ghana Energy Awards brought together key players in Ghana’s energy industry to honour individuals and organisations making a strong impact in the areas of power, petroleum, renewable energy and policy reform. The event recognized excellence, leadership, innovation and dedication to the country’s energy transition.

Ing. Edward Ekow Obeng-Kenzo, Chief Executive of the Volta River Authority, was named Energy Personality of the Year (Male). On the female side, Judith Adjobah Blay, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Gas Limited Company, won Energy Personality of the Year (Female) for her outstanding leadership in the gas sector.

In the CEO categories, Ing. Kwame Kpekpena of the Electricity Company of Ghana was honoured as CEO of the Year (Power), while Maurizio Pinna, Managing Director of Eni Ghana Exploration & Production Company Limited, received the CEO of the Year (Petroleum) award.

Several companies were also recognised for their performance in their respective areas. Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) was named Energy Company of the Year (Power), BOST Energies Limited won Energy Company of the Year (Petroleum), and SolPower Company Limited took home the award for Energy Company of the Year (Renewable).

Emerging leaders in the industry were not left out. Ing. Susana Tiwaah Badu-Osei was recognised as Emerging Female Leader in Energy, while Hubert Nsoh Zan and Spes Enyonam Gbeddy received the Rising Star (Male and Female) awards respectively.

The non-competitive awards honoured individuals whose influence has shaped the industry over the years. Hon. Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, Minister for Energy and Green Transition, was named Energy Sector Reformer of the Year. Ing. Jabesh Amissah-Arthur received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his long-standing contribution to the energy sector.
Other honourees included Victoria Emeafa Hardcastle (Women in Energy Excellence), Dr. Ishmael Ackah (Exemplary Leadership), Michael Bozumbil (Energy Business Leadership) and Anthony E. Paul (African Energy Leadership Excellence).
The 9th Ghana Energy Awards once again highlighted the people and institutions driving growth, sustainability and innovation in Ghana’s energy sector.
