Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has been officially sworn in as the Speaker of the 9th Parliament.
This ceremony took place on Wednesday, January 7, 2025, and was officiated by Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Sackey Torkonno.
Alban Bagbin’s nomination was moved by Cassiel Ato Forson, the newly confirmed Majority Leader, and seconded by Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, despite some drama surrounding the nomination process.
In his acceptance speech, Bagbin emphasized the importance of unity and pledged to work impartially to ensure the smooth functioning of the House.
