A 32-year-old man is fighting for his life after his girlfriend allegedly stabbed him during an argument in Nyinahin, Ashanti Region.
The victim, Atsu Maxwell, was admitted to Nyinahin Community Hospital on Monday morning after an argument with his 20-year-old girlfriend, identified by police as Yaa Esther, turned violent.
What began as a routine disagreement escalated when Esther reportedly grabbed a kitchen knife and struck Maxwell multiple times, wounding him in the head, chest and left shoulder.
Neighbours say they heard raised voices before finding Maxwell collapsed on the floor.
“It sounded like they were just arguing, then suddenly I heard him scream,” one neighbour said.
Passersby rushed Maxwell to the hospital, where doctors say he remains in intensive care.
Nyinahin District Police confirm they have arrested Esther and recovered the knife used in the assault.
The case is now before the Ashanti Regional Criminal Investigation Department, which is preparing charges of attempted murder.
