A pastor has been arrested after an alleged attempt to bury a five-month-old baby alive at Abofrem in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region, an incident that has left residents in shock.
The suspect, Richmond Akwasi Frimpong, who is the Head Pastor of Anointed Grace Prayer Ministry at Kuffour Camp, was detained after the incident on Tuesday night.
According to eyewitnesses, Frimpong and another person were seen at a refuse dump around 11pm behaving suspiciously while carrying the infant.
A witness, Winfred Agbah, said he intervened after noticing unusual movement at the site. He added that on closer inspection, he discovered the baby was still alive and appeared to be on the verge of being buried.
The witness raised an alarm, leading to the pastor’s arrest.
Police have not yet given full details of the circumstances surrounding the incident, and investigations are ongoing.
