Ablakwa seeks ‘wisdom’ from veteran diplomat Obed Asamoah

Foreign Affairs Minister-Designate, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Obed Yao Asamoah, Ghana’s longest-serving Foreign Minister.

Dr. Asamoah, 89, served as Foreign Minister for 16 years under President Rawlings and holds the distinction of being the only Foreign Minister to have simultaneously held the positions of Attorney-General and Minister of Justice.

Ablakwa expressed his gratitude to Dr. Asamoah for receiving him in his home, sharing his insights, and offering encouragement.

The meeting was described as a “masterclass” by Ablakwa, who was particularly heartened by Dr. Asamoah’s confidence in President Mahama’s ability to succeed in his foreign policy objectives.

This meeting comes after Ablakwa’s nomination as Foreign Affairs Minister-Designate by President Mahama.

Ablakwa has pledged to diligently assist President Mahama in championing Ghana’s best interests, with unquestionable patriotism, innovation, and integrity.
