Abomosu STEM Senior High School has secured qualification to represent the Eastern Region at the 2026 National Maths and Science Quiz (NMSQ) after a thrilling victory over Ghana Senior High School in the regional qualifiers.
The contest was fiercely contested, with Abomosu STEM SHS dominating all three rounds of the competition and maintaining the lead throughout. However, Ghana Senior High School staged a remarkable comeback in the final round to level the scores at 43 points, forcing the contest into a tie-breaker.
In the decisive tie-breaker, Abomosu STEM SHS held their nerve to emerge victorious, booking their place as the Eastern Region’s representative at the 2026 National Championship.
Mamfe Methodist Girls Senior High School also put up a determined performance but finished with 29 points, falling short of qualification.
The victory marks another significant milestone for Abomosu STEM SHS and reflects the school’s growing reputation for excellence in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education.The current PTA Chairman Oppong Adams who led a team to support his wards expressed his joy and requested government to focus on their school
for the growing excellence.
Mr.Oppong used the occasion to express great worry of Galamsey which has been a great threat to the school for both students and management,he said the security of their wards is not safe as galamseyers are mining close to the walls of the school and the noise,chemicals have polluted all their drinking water and calling on National Security and other counter groups against galamsey to come to their aid for sound and secured learning environment.
Students, teachers, parents, and alumni celebrated the hard-earned triumph, expressing confidence that the school will make the Eastern Region proud at the national competition.
