Abronye Granted GHC 50,000 Bail After Initial Remand
Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye

The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye, has been granted bail by the Accra Circuit Court in the sum of GHS 50,000 without justification, following a successful legal application by his counsel.

Abronye was previously remanded into police custody for one week to assist in ongoing investigations. However, his legal team, led by Lawyer Martey Addo, Managing Counsel at Nkrumah & Associates, challenged the court’s earlier decision, citing legal missteps.

“We felt strongly that the decision made last week was not proper in law,” Lawyer Addo stated after the court’s decision. “Thankfully, the law provided a pathway for us to reapply, correct the errors, and present our case. We are glad the court has heard our prayer.”

The Accra Circuit Court, after reviewing the application, admitted the NPP regional chairman to bail without justification, a notable shift from the earlier ruling which saw him remanded.

Despite being granted bail, Abronye is still facing a charge of publication of false news, with investigations still ongoing. He is expected to reappear in court on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, for the next phase of the proceedings.
