A Deputy Organiser of the National Democratic Congress in the Tain Constituency of the Bono Region has criticised the conduct of the New Patriotic Party Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, also known as Abronye, saying his behaviour would disqualify him from holding even a branch executive position in the NDC.
Obeng Francis said the NDC has long upheld discipline and respect within its ranks and does not tolerate insults or reckless public comments from party executives.
Speaking on recent political controversies, he said the party founded by former President Jerry John Rawlings has strict rules that prevent members from making unfounded allegations or insulting individuals in the name of politics.
According to him, executives within the NDC, from branch level to the national leadership, are expected to conduct themselves responsibly in public.
Mr Francis accused the NPP of allowing indiscipline and political insults to flourish within its party structures.
He said Mr Abronye’s frequent attacks on statesmen, religious leaders and judges on television would have made him unfit for any executive role in the NDC.
“The NDC would never allow such conduct from an executive member,” he said, adding that the difference between the two major political parties lies in how discipline is enforced.
Mr Francis also criticised the Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, over recent comments concerning judges, particularly remarks linked to the Adenta Circuit Court.
He said he was disappointed that a senior parliamentary leader would endorse behaviour he described as inappropriate.
According to him, political leaders must show leadership by condemning wrongdoing regardless of political affiliation.
Mr Francis argued that holding the office of Minority Leader does not give anyone the authority to attack members of the judiciary.
He further stated that comments allegedly made by Mr Abronye, which led to legal action against him, were repeated by Mr Alexander Afenyo Markin.
He, therefore, called for the laws of the country to be applied equally to both men in order to protect order and public confidence in the justice system.
