President John Dramani Mahama has set out what he described as a clear and coordinated vision for Africa’s response to a fast-changing global order at the Addis Reckoning event in Addis Ababa.
Speaking at the gathering, President Mahama said the world is undergoing major shifts that demand a unified and strategic response from African leaders.
He pointed to fractured supply chains, cautious global financing, and rapid technological advances that are outpacing regulatory systems, describing the changes as “tectonic” and capable of reshaping the international order.

He traced the roots of the Accra Reset initiative, noting that the idea first took shape at the Health Sovereignty Summit in Accra.
The discussions, he said, were later pushed forward at the United Nations General Assembly, refined during engagements in Davos, and are now moving into practical action in Addis Ababa.
President Mahama said the initiative reflects a growing determination across the continent to move beyond frustration and take a more assertive role in shaping global outcomes.
He expressed confidence that Africa’s changing mindset is already producing fresh thinking that could alter how the continent engages with the rest of the world and influence the broader dynamics of international relations.
