Astute football administrator and politician Vincent Odotei Sowah has described Ghana’s early exit from the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament as highly unacceptable.
Speaking on Original 91.9 FM’s Super Sports Morning with Gideon Okyere Anim on Wednesday morning, the board member for Accra Hearts of Oak said he is highly disappointed and disturbed about the sharp decline of the Black Stars and Ghana football.
“First of all, I think it’s very unfortunate and very sad because we are considered as a football nation and one of the favorites and so it is sad we exited at the group stage”.
“It is unacceptable and not befitting the status of a football nation like Ghana,” he added
Ghana exited the 2023 AFCON amassing just two points in three games in Group B, where the Black Stars played with Cape Verde, Egypt, and Mozambique.
This is the second consecutive time the Black Stars have failed to progress to the round of 16 in the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Black Stars exit was officially confirmed after Cameroon defeated The Gambia by 3-2 on Tuesday night.
