AFCON Qualifiers: Otto Addo adjusts Black Stars squad after eight players withdrawal

Coach of the Black Stars Otto Addo has made changes to his team following the withdrawal of eight players from the squad for the African Cup of Nation (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Sudan.

Inaki Williams, Tariq Lamptey, Jonas Adjetey, Jerome Opoku, Antoine Semenyo, Alexander Djiku and Ibrahim Osman withdrew from the Black Stars squad for the crucial games due to varied injuries, while Joseph Paintsil withdrew due to personal replaces.

In place of them, Otto Addo has handed call -ups to Osman Bukari (Austin FC), Ransford Yeboah Koningsdorffer (Hamburger SV), Forson Amankwah (Norwich City), Terry Yegbe (IF Elfsborg), Ebenezer Annan (OFK Beograd) and Kingsley Schindler (Samsunspor).

The six players are expected to arrive in camp by the close of Tuesday, November 12. The rest of the team will beginning preparations for the crucial games at the Accra Sports Stadium, starting Monday, November 11, at 5 p.m.

Ghana will play Angola at Estadio 11 de Novembro in Luanda on Friday, November 15, 2024, and then face Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, November 18, 2024.

The Black Stars will need to win both games, while also hoping for Sudan to stumble in order to qualify for the AFCON to be played in Morocco next year.
