Former Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover says the friendship between Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin and former Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong remains intact, despite speculation following the New Patriotic Party presidential primaries.
Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana on February 5, 2026, Titus Glover dismissed claims of a falling out between the two senior party figures, describing their relationship as deep, personal, and built over many years of political struggle.
“You cannot take Afenyo-Markin’s friendship away from Kennedy Agyapong,” he said. “These are brothers in the struggle who have stood together through thick and thin. Primaries come and go, but true friendship endures.”
His comments followed public discussions about Afenyo-Markin’s support for Kennedy Agyapong during the party’s internal contest, which some observers claimed may have strained relationships within the NPP leadership.
Titus Glover rejected that narrative, insisting there was nothing wrong with Afenyo-Markin openly supporting Kennedy Agyapong.
“There is absolutely nothing wrong with Afenyo supporting Kennedy,” he said. “That support does not break friendships, it shows honesty and conviction.”
He described the history between the two men, from parliamentary work to development efforts in parts of the Central Region, as unbreakable.
According to him, their different strengths have often worked to the benefit of the party.
“Kennedy brings energy, Afenyo brings strategy, and together they complement each other,” Titus Glover noted.
“Both of them want victory for the NPP in 2028. What people are calling tension is just political theatre.”
He urged party members and the media to focus on unity rather than amplifying perceived divisions, stressing that internal cohesion would be key to the party’s future success.
“This party is bigger than any single contest,” he said. “Unity is what matters now, not speculation about friendships that are still very much alive.”
