Chief Executive Officer of Innovare Limited and Cyber Security Consultant, CK Bruce, says technology must be intentionally harnessed to address healthcare inequalities between Africa’s big cities and rural areas.
Speaking on Metro TV’s Titans and Trailblazers with Prof. Robert Ebo Hinson on Friday, September 12, 2025, Mr. Bruce said the current gap between urban and rural healthcare delivery is too wide.
“I think we need to harness technology to improve healthcare,” he said, comparing the use of technology in Europe and North America with that of Africa.
Mr. Bruce noted that the lack of basic digital infrastructure in many rural communities has created dangerous situations for patients.
“So horror stories,” he said, describing the consequences of inadequate technology in health systems outside major cities.
CK Bruce argued that Africa must move quickly to catch up.
According to him, artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies could close the distance between patients in rural areas and the care they need, if adopted at scale.
“I really think it needs to leapfrog. It has left but it needs to be more and I think AI should provide that bridging of the gap,” he added.
