Ghanaian singer and brand influencer, Afua Asantewaa, has expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Ghanaians and her global supporters despite being disqualified for the second time from the Guinness World Record for the longest individual singing marathon.
In a statement released on her Facebook page on Thursday, May 8, Afua Asantewaa described her journey as “challenging yet rewarding” and “an incredible experience.”
She emphasized that the opportunity to explore her potential on the esteemed Guinness World Records platform has led to significant personal growth and development.
“I would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who has supported, cheered, provided constructive criticism, been inspired, encouraged, and believed in my journey,” Afua Asantewaa stated.
She extended her appreciation to various individuals and organizations, including Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II, sponsors, the media fraternity, and the Ghanaian public.
Afua Asantewaa assured her fans that despite the disqualification, she will “continue to make steady progress.”
The Guinness World Record disqualified Afua Asantewaa’s second attempt due to her failure to adhere to the guidelines regarding rest breaks during the singing marathon.
According to the GWR, Afua Asantewaa took longer breaks than allowed, which invalidated her record attempt.
“We can only approve a record when all of the rules have been followed, as that is how we ensure fairness across all record attempts,” the GWR noted in their disqualification letter.
Despite the setback, Afua Asantewaa says she remains determined to pursue her passion for music and inspire her fans.
