AG has done nothing wrong prosecuting anti-galamsey protesters – Fuseini Issah

Former Member of Parliament for Okaikwei North, Fuseini Issah, has jumped to the defence of the Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame’s decision to prosecute anti-galamsey protesters.

Speaking on Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV, the ex-NPP legislator emphasized that the Attorney General, as the state’s principal lawyer, has done nothing wrong in taking on the prosecution.

“The Attorney General has the constitutional mandate to represent the state in court,” Fuseini Issah explained.

“In the past, the police have prosecuted similar matters, and now the Attorney General is doing the same. I see no issue with it,” he defended amidst backlash from the public over what they describe as the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo-led government attempt to cow citizens into silence.

Fuseini Issah questioned why the Director of Legal Affairs for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe, is criticizing the Attorney General’s actions.

“It’s the way it’s done. For a lawyer to question that, I’m struggling to understand why Edudzi wants to challenge the Attorney General for doing what the Constitution mandates.”
