Agotime Kente Festival 2024 to celebrate Ghanaian heritage and inclusive development

The Paramount Chief of Agotime Traditional Area in the Volta Region, Nene Nuer Keteku IV, (The Konor) says this year’s celebration of the annual Agotime Kente Festival is aimed at celebrating Ghanaian Heritage and inclusive development.

The festival, which is scheduled to take place from August 4th to 11th, 2024, will be held under the theme “Repositioning the Kente Heritage for Inclusive Development.”

This year’s festival promises to feature a diverse array of activities, including a Football Gala, Health Walk, Quiz Competition, Women and Children’s Day Mini Durbar, Godigbe, which is historic day of landing, and Kente Weaving Competition.

The rest of the activities lined up to celebrate a vibrant occasion are Heroes and Heroines’ Day, Asialetorme, meaning Maidens Water Fetching Rite, Miss Kente Pageant, Food Bazaar, Street Carnival, Grand Durbar, and an Inter-denominational Thanks-Giving Church Service.

A statement from the Paramount Chief of Agotime Traditional Area noted that the Grand Durbar, which is the climax of the festival, is scheduled for Saturday, 10th August, 2024, commencing at 9 am at the GRA Park in Agotime Kpetoe.

It said the event is expected to be graced by the presence of government representatives, ministers, members of parliament, distinguished chiefs and queen mothers, members of the diplomatic corps, captains of industry, and tourists from around the world, depicting the inclusivity and unity nature of this year’s celebration.

“The 2024 Agotime Kente Festival promises to be an unforgettable cultural experience, celebrating the beauty and heritage of the Kente cloth while fostering inclusive development for the Agotime Traditional Area.”

The Paramount Chief of Agotime Traditional Area in the Volta Region Nene Nuer Keteku IV together with his elders have extended a cordial invitation to all to witness the celebration of prestigious Ghanaian festival and join in the festivities.
