Charles Adu Boahen sacked over Anas exposé

President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has terminated the appointment of Mr. Charles Adu-Boahen as the Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance.

His removal is with immediate effect.

The relieving of Mr. Adu-Boahen of his position was contained in a statement issued by the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Mr. Eugene Arhin.

“After being made aware of the allegations levelled against the Minister in the exposé, “Galamsey Economy”, the President spoke to Mr. Adu Boahen, after which he took the decision to terminate his appointment,” the statement said on Monday.

Furthermore, President Nana Akufo-Addo has referred the “matter to the Special Prosecutor for further investigations.”

Tiger Eye P.I. is set to premiere ‘Galamsey Economy’ investigative documentary on Monday (November 14, 2022) and Tuesday (November 15, 2022) at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).

The documentary unearths how some prominent men in the country are engaged in the illegal mining menace which is destroying water bodies across the country.

The unaired investigative piece by ace journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas allegedly captures Mr. Adu Boahen asking an investor to pay a $200,000 appearance fee to enable a meeting between him and the Vice President.

Mr. Adu Boahan allegedly also advised the undercover investor to promise the Vice President that he would employ some of his relatives in order for his investment to begin sooner.

Dr. Bawumia, on the other hand, called for the Minister to be fired and investigated in a Facebook post.
