The devastating mining pit collapse in Akyem Wenchi, Eastern Region, has taken a grim turn, with the death toll now standing at 11, Metro TV’s Eastern Regional Correspondent Kofi Adjei has reported.
Scores of people have also been injured in the disaster, with many more feared trapped underground.
Rescue efforts are ongoing, with personnel from NADMO, police, fire service, and ambulance services working tirelessly to save those trapped.
The cause of the collapse remains unknown.
