Alan influential in NPP’s massive win in Kumawu by-election – Sylvester Tetteh

Member of Parliament for the Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfrom Constituency, Sylvester Tetteh, has attributed the landslide victory of Ernest Yaw Anim, the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate in the Kumawu by-elections to the presence of NPP flagbearer hopeful, Alan Kyerematen in the constituency.

He noted that winning the Kumawu seat by an overwhelming 60% in a by-election was a difficult hurdle but for the presence of the NPP flagbearer hopeful, the victory was achieved at last.

“It was amazing, Alan’s presence in the constituency and how, I was surprised. The designed programme for Alan was not to hold [a] rally but to hold some background consultation with chiefs and some opinion leaders, only to come out of such meetings to meet teaming crowds on the streets. Stopping and forcing him to address them.

“It was an indication that indeed his presence contributed to the massive 70% victory for Ernest Yaw Anim, even though the turnout overall was much lower than the general elections. ”

Mr. Tetteh said on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana on Thursday, 25th May 2023,  that the NPP putting on their A-game before winning the by-elections despite Kumawu constituency being their stronghold calls for introspection.

“It has to take the NPP to the drawing board to look at some of the things going forward critically because Kumawu shouldn’t have needed the kind of presence we put in Kumawu because it is our stronghold, that the National Organizer alone could have discharged that responsibility.”

For him, having the presence of President Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Bawumia, and almost the entire leadership in Kumawu speaks volumes.

The Greater Accra Campaign Manager for the Alan Kyerematen Team howbeit extended appreciation to everyone who came on board to have the resounding victory they had in Kumawu.
