Alpha Hour and its leader, Pastor Elvis Agyemang, have demanded an immediate retraction of what they describe as false, defamatory, and malicious statements made by social media commentator Albert Nat Hyde, popularly known as Bongo Ideas.
In a press statement dated 15th January 2026, the religious organisation said the allegations made by Bongo Ideas on his Facebook and Instagram pages on 14th January 2026 were entirely untrue, misleading, and unsupported by facts.
The statement, issued on behalf of Alpha Hour and Pastor Agyemang, said the allegations were circulated in video and audio formats, but contradicted the written content posted by the influencer.
Alpha Hour said the statements made by the controversial social media commentator were aimed at tarnishing the reputation of the church and its leader.
Bongo Ideas twisted a statement made by celebrated Ghanaian gospel musician Esther Smith during a radio interview.
“I was at Alpha Hour and I was charged £300,000 for prayers against a threat on my life – Esther Smith drops bombshell,” Bongo Ideas wrote.
“I’ve always known this guy can’t be trusted! Keep making these pastors rich!” he added.
Alpha Hour described the statements as defamation and character assassination, insisting they were deliberately calculated to damage the reputation, credibility, and integrity of Alpha Hour and its leadership.
The organisation also insisted the allegations were false and mischievously published.
Alpha Hour noted that the management of gospel singer Esther Smith issued a press statement on 15th January 2026, distancing her from the allegations.
The Alpha Hour noted that Esther Smith was contracted to minister at the Alpha Hour Convocation on 30th December 2025, alongside other Christian ministers, and not for any of the reasons alleged by Bongo Ideas.
Alpha Hour demanded the immediate retraction of the allegations by Bongo Ideas, warning that failure to comply may lead to further action.
