The District Chief Executive of Anloga, Hon. Sandra Seyram Kpedor, has facilitated the donation of 100 bags of fertilizer to 100 young women farmers in the district, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation’s “Happy Programme.”
The initiative aims to strengthen local food systems and empower women engaged in small-scale farming — a vital economic activity supporting thousands of households across the district.
Addressing beneficiaries at the presentation ceremony, Madam Kpedor praised the farmers for their dedication and perseverance despite economic and environmental challenges.
“These women have shown exceptional commitment to farming against all odds. This support recognizes their hard work and encourages them to keep feeding our communities,” she said.
She reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to promoting women’s participation in agriculture, pledging to build more partnerships that deliver practical support and sustainable development.
“I remain committed to working with stakeholders to promote agricultural growth in Anloga. Our farmers are the backbone of our local economy, and empowering them — especially young women — is key to building a resilient agricultural sector,” she added.
The beneficiaries, mainly vegetable farmers, expressed appreciation for the intervention, noting that the fertilizer would boost yields and reduce production costs.
The Happy Programme, under the Mastercard Foundation, provides training, input support, and mentorship for young women farmers, equipping them to scale up their agribusinesses and contribute to food security and rural development.
Stakeholders at the event described the gesture as timely, emphasizing that empowering women in agriculture remains central to poverty reduction, food sustainability, and inclusive growth in the Anloga District, which is known for producing onions, shallots, tomatoes, lettuce, and other vegetables in farming communities such as Woe, Tegbi, Anloga, Dzita, and Agbledomi.
