Arloo’s death: Seek second opinion if you doubts Police autopsy report — Pathologist to family

Renowned Forensic Pathologist with the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (KNUST) Medical School Professor Osei Sampene has called on the family of Shadrack Arloo to seek a second opinion on the police autopsy report if they are unsatisfied.

Shadrach Arloo, 32, was scheduled to travel to Germany on Tuesday, but 24 hours before that journey, he had an encounter with a policeman at the west hills mall and lost his life.

Shadrach Arloo resisted an arrest by a police officer who suspected he was in possession of drugs or banned substances.

A pathological examination conducted on the body of Shadrach Arloo by the Ghana Police Service indicates that he died from asphyxiation and obstruction of the airway by a foreign body.

The postmortem examination conducted on February 7, 2023, also led to the retrieval from the deceased’s throat a total of 8 zipped bags of dread leaves suspected to be Indian hemp tied in a piece of black polythene.

A test on the substance tested positive for cannabis when submitted to the forensic lab for examination in the presence of all parties involved in the case.

This was contained in a statement released by Police on Tuesday, February 7  as part of its investigations into the matter to unravel the circumstances and what led to the death of Shadrach Arloo following allegations of murder against a police officer and officials of the Mall.

However, the family of Shadrach Arloo has rejected the report claiming they suspect foul play.

Speaking on Original TV’s Nsem Aisisi, a social programme, renowned forensic pathologist with the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science &Technology (KNUST) Medical School Professor Osei Sampene called on the family to request a second opinion to alleviate their doubt about the police autopsy since the law allows them to do so.

The family of Shadrack Arloo says it will petition the Commission of Human Rights & Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) if the Police Service temper with justice.

They believe the Ghana Police service is cleverly covering up for the unlawful and unprofessional conduct of its officers that has led to the death of the deceased.
