A gang of seven masked robbers has attacked a container truck in the Ashanti Region, making off with cash and mobile phones worth thousands of cedis.
The incident occurred on Tuesday morning between Tesiliman and Domeabra, near Obuasi, when the truck was ambushed by the robbers, who were armed with guns, cutlasses, and sticks.
According to the victims, the driver was forced to stop after the robbers fired their weapons, before stealing 12,000 cedis in cash and mobile phones valued at 4,500 cedis.
The Obuasi police have launched an investigation into the incident and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
The attack is the latest in a series of armed robberies in the region, prompting concerns about the safety of motorists and cargo vehicles.
