Asante Kotoko have secured the signing of former striker Albert Amoah on loan from Libyan club Al Ahly Benghazi for the remainder of the 2025/2026 season.
The announcement was made on Thursday, the final day of the transfer window, as the Porcupine Warriors continue to strengthen their squad for the upcoming challenges in the Ghana Premier League and continental competitions.
Amoah’s return to Kotoko marks a significant move in his career, as the prolific forward had only spent a short time at Al Ahly Benghazi after moving to Libya earlier this year. The striker had made the move following Kotoko’s early exit from the CAF Confederation Cup, but his limited playing time with the Libyan side led him to seek a return to familiar grounds in Ghana. The move is expected to provide him with more regular playing opportunities and re-establish his connection with the Kotoko fanbase.
During his previous spell at Asante Kotoko, Amoah was a standout performer, quickly becoming one of the club’s most valuable assets. In the 2024–25 season, he was the club’s top scorer with an impressive 15 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions. His goalscoring exploits were a key factor in Kotoko’s impressive run in the league and their successful FA Cup campaign, where he netted three goals in four matches, including a crucial brace in the final.
Despite his relatively short stint in Libya, Amoah has already demonstrated his sharpness in front of goal. In his six appearances for Al Ahly Benghazi, he scored four goals, including a brace against Nigerian side Kwara United in the CAF Confederation Cup. This return to Kotoko is expected to bring much-needed firepower to the club’s attack, particularly as they continue their push for both domestic and continental glory this season.
