Following the invasion of Ashaiman by some armed personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces, Member of Parliament for the area, Ernest Norgbey has disclosed that the whereabouts of about 72 people in the area currently remain a mystery.

According to the MP, 72 constituents are believed to have been rounded up by the military personnel and sent to an undisclosed location.

Speaking in an interview with Accra-based Joy News on Tuesday evening, Mr. Norgbey narrated that following the news of the arrest of these persons, he went to Michel Camp in search of them but they were not there.

As at the time he was speaking to the media, he was on his way to Burma Camp to confirm if they have been sent there.

“To the best of my knowledge, I know about 72 of them were taken away from Ashaiman and I am making frantic efforts to get their location,” the Member of Parliament for Ashaiman disclosed.

The legislator further condemned the actions by the military adding that “we cannot take the laws into our hands whether we are lawmakers or security agencies.”

Expressing his condolences to the bereaved family, he called for a thorough investigation into the murder of the young soldier.

Meanwhile, he is hopeful the Speaker of Parliament will refer the matter to Defense and Interior Committee for a probe.
