Asiedu Nketia Urges NDC Members to Be Patient with Appointments Under Mahama

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been facing growing impatience from its supporters, with many party faithful eagerly waiting to be appointed to public positions following the return of President John Mahama to power.

In response, NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia has called on the party’s loyalists to exercise patience and understanding.

During a meeting with members in Winneba on February 12, Asiedu Nketia explained that while many supporters are eager for appointments, the President’s constitutional mandate allows for only a limited number of appointments at any given time.

“As much as we understand the frustrations of our members, it is important to remember that appointments cannot be made all at once,” Nketia stated. He assured the party faithful that the NDC government is working hard to ensure all concerns are addressed over time.

“There is no reason to be angry. Your concerns will be heard and addressed through the appropriate channels,” he added.

The NDC National Chairman also clarified the rationale behind the decision to limit the number of ministers appointed by President Mahama, noting that the party had promised a more streamlined government compared to the previous administration’s expansive cabinet. The promise to reduce the number of ministers to 60 was a key part of their platform, and this reduction means fewer appointments can be made in the early stages of the administration.

Asiedu Nketia acknowledged the concerns of party members but emphasized that patience is necessary for the smooth functioning of the government. He reassured them that their time would come and reminded them of the NDC’s commitment to governance that serves the people. In his message to the party members, he also urged them to avoid venting frustrations publicly and instead direct grievances to the right forums for resolution. “You have elected a competent President who is working for the betterment of the country,” he said. “The time for appointments will come, and it’s important to stay united and patient as we move forward together.”

This statement comes amid growing speculation that some members of the NDC are dissatisfied with the pace of appointments following the party’s return to power.
