Asogli State Council announces ban on funerals ahead of Yam Festival

The Asogli State Council has announced a customary ban on funerals in the entire Asogli State, effective Monday, August 12, 2024, to Monday, October 7, 2024.

A press release signed by the Secretary of the Council, Stephen Tetteh, said the ban is to ensure a peaceful and successful celebration of this year’s Asogli Te Za (Yam Festival).

The Agbogbomefia, Togbe Afede XIV, and his Chiefs are appealing to the general public to cooperate with them by strictly observing the ban on funerals.

“We appeal to the general public to co-operate with us by strictly observing the ban on funerals to ensure a peaceful and successful celebration,” Togbe Afede XIV said.

The Asogli State Council has commenced preparations for the festival and is urging the public to respect the tradition.
