Atalanta have suffered a major injury setback with Ghana winger Kamaldeen Sulemana ruled out for an estimated two to three months after sustaining a knee injury in pre-season.
The 24-year-old has been diagnosed with a second-degree tear of the medial collateral ligament (MCL) in his left knee, according to the club’s medical assessment.
Sulemana suffered the injury during Atalanta’s pre-season friendly against Schalke 04. The Ghana international had only recently entered the game as a second-half substitute when he was forced to leave the pitch.
Further instrumental tests carried out by Atalanta’s medical team confirmed the extent of the ligament damage.
The winger is now expected to begin his rehabilitation immediately as he works towards a return to full fitness.
