Atlantic Lithium, which is advancing the Ewoyaa Lithium Project in Mankessim to become Ghana’s first lithium-producing mine, as part of it cooperate social responsibilities, has donated food and essential items to seven deprived muslim communities within the Mfantseman Municipalities.
This follows the celebration of the 2025 Eid-ul-Fitr. The gesture provided those who fasted access to food and other necessities to mark the end of Ramadan.
Among the items donated by Atlantic Lithium were bags of rice, boxes of spaghetti, bottles of cooking oil, packets of soft drinks, boxes of mackerel and cans of tomatoes.
The items were donated to those in need at various mosques, the mosques that received the donations include the Mankessim Central Mosque (Orthodox), the Mankessim Mosque (Ahmadiyya), Saltpond Central Mosque (Orthodox), and Saltpond Mosque (Ahmadiyya).
Other were Abonko Mosque, Krofu Mosque and Bafikrom Mosque
The initiative was led by Dr. Millicent Aning-Agyei, Atlantic Lithium’s Community Relations and Social Performance Manager.
She emphasised that the company seeks to spread kindness within its project communities, fulfilling the essential duty of Zakat and sharing in the blessings associated with it.
Dr. Aning-Agyei noted that the donations aimed to promote the well-being of less fortunate Muslim residents within the community and to strengthen relationships with the local population.
She also called on the Muslim community’s support for the development of the Ewoyaa Lithium Project, which is expected to yield sustainable socio-economic benefits for its local communities within the Central Region and Ghana as a whole.
The Atlantic Lithium team received a warm and joyful welcome from the Muslim community, including the Imams and Alhajis of all the mosques visited.
The Imams and the Alhajis attested to the positive social impact that Atlantic Lithium has made within the Mfantseman Municipality, even though construction of the Ewoyaa Lithium Project has not yet commenced, as Atlantic Lithium has been present in the area for about eight years.
