A new survey by Global InfoAnalytics suggests that National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia remains the preferred choice among respondents to lead the party into the 2028 general election, although his support has dipped slightly since April.
The poll, which compares findings from April and July 2026, puts Asiedu Nketia in the lead with 27% support, down two percentage points from the 29% he recorded in April.
Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson posted the biggest gain among the leading contenders, rising from 19% in April to 22% in July.
The three-percentage-point increase narrows the gap between him and the frontrunner to five percentage points.
Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu saw the sharpest decline among the top contenders. His support dropped from 11% in April to 6% in July, representing a five-point fall.
Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang recorded a slight decline, moving from 8% to 7%, while Chief of Staff Julius Debrah’s support fell from 8% to 5%.
The survey also shows marginal gains for Prof. Joshua Alabi And Agriculture Minister Eric Opoku, both of whom moved from 0% in April to 1% in July.
Support for “Others” remained unchanged at 1%.
One of the survey’s notable findings is the increase in the number of undecided respondents. The proportion of voters who are yet to settle on a preferred candidate rose from 24% in April to 30% in July, a six-percentage-point increase.
