Member of Parliament for Ayawaso North, Hon. Yussif Jajah, has made a significant contribution to the development of football in his constituency by donating a set of jerseys and footballs to 135 community youth groups.
Speaking at the donation event, Yussif Jajah revealed that this initiative is part of his broader effort to promote sports, particularly football.
“First of all, we are deeply grateful to the Almighty God for making this program possible and successful. Secondly, the rationale behind this initiative is part of my office’s commitment to promoting sports in this community, especially football,” he stated.
Ayawaso North has a proud history of producing talented footballers who have represented the nation, including notable players like Majeed Ashimeru and Abdul Manaf Nurudeen.
Hon. Yussif Jajah recognized this rich legacy and expressed optimism for the future, saying, “This community is known for producing talented footballers, and we have many young players ready to emerge.”
“As a Member of Parliament, it is my duty to help improve football in the community. That is why we decided to start by providing them with footballs, jerseys, and other essential equipment.”
In addition to the donation, Yussif Jajah shared his vision for enhancing football infrastructure in the area. He mentioned plans to establish a proper football pitch, which would be vital for training and development.
“It is important to me that we create a suitable football pitch in the community to enhance and develop football further. With almost 135 youth groups present to receive their footballs and jerseys, this shows the level of commitment and enthusiasm for football in our community.”
With 135 youth groups receiving footballs and jerseys, the event was a clear demonstration of Hon. Jajah’s dedication to football. He thanked the attendees for their participation and encouraged them to make good use of the equipment provided.
“Well, we thank them [youth groups] for coming. We are really grateful to them, and it is our hope and prayer that they will use it well so that as and when we get more, we can give it to them. Thank you, and God bless us all. Thank you,” he concluded.
This recent initiative is just one of Yussif Jajah’s many contributions to advancing football in the constituency and beyond. Earlier this year, he provided jerseys, footballs, and a cash prize of 2,000 GH to nine football clubs in the constituency.
He also bused over 100 people to Kumasi to support Dreams FC in the second leg of the semifinal of the CAF Confederation Cup against Zamalek.
Yussif Jajah, who was elected in 2016 and re-elected in 2020 under the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is set to seek re-election on Saturday, December 7, in the upcoming elections.
The member of both the Finance Committee and the Roads and Transport Committee will be competing against Hon. Ibrahim Sannie Vanbell in the elections.
