The Akyeamehene of Kwahu Atibie, Nana Danquah Bamfo III, has bemoaned that roads leading to the Odweanoma Paragliding site are in a very bad shape which is affecting the patronage of tourism in the Kwahu enclave.
The Chief also lamented that the landing site for the paragliding festival which is the Nkawkaw Sport Stadium is also in a poor state making it less standard to host tourists who engage in the paragliding activities.
He, therefore, appealed to the government through the Ghana Tourism Authority to ensure that roads leading to Odweanoma Paragliding Tourist Site are developed as well as the landing site which is Nkawkaw Sports Stadium to help attract more tourists to the area
Nana Danquah Bamfo III made the disclosure when speaking on behalf of the Kwahu Traditional Authority during the launch of this year’s Cooperate Fun and Fly Paragliding Festival also known as “Yenko Kwahu” at Kwahu- Odweanoma Mountain.
The Cooperate Fun and Fly Paragliding Festival was instituted by the Ghana Tourism Authority in collaboration with Kwahu Professional Network (KPN) in 2015 and it is targeted at Cooperate Organizations and groups who missed out on the Easter event.
The Deputy CEO in charge of Services- Ghana Tourism Authority Mr. Ben Anane Nsiah on his part highlighted the essence of the Cooperate Fun and Fly Paragliding Festival and further assured that the Ghana Tourism Authority is working in tangent with the Ministry of Roads to ensure all roads leading to tourist sites in Ghana are in good shape.
Therefore, he pledges to channel the grievances of the people of Kwahu concerning roads leading to their Tourist Site particularly the Odweanoma Paragliding site to the appropriate quarters thus the Ministry of Roads.
On the other hand, the President of Kwahu Professional Network (KPN) Mr. Prince Boateng appealed to the Ghana Tourism Authority to expedite action on the training of local Pilots to cut costs on the hiring of foreign pilots during the Paragliding Festival.
