Barker-Vormawor demands investigation into presidency website redirect

Oliver Barker-Vormawor, convenor of Fix The Country, has condomned the redirection of the official Government of Ghana Presidency domain (https://www.presidency.gov.gh) to President John Dramani Mahama’s campaign website (https://www.johnmahama.org).

Barker-Vormawor described the move as “pretty unfortunate” and emphasized that it “flies against everything that is administratively proper.”

He further stressed that this action “offends our national security strategy if not several laws.”

The Fix The Country convenor highlighted the importance of maintaining the integrity of critical national information infrastructure, which includes the Presidency’s official website and social media handles.

“You cannot under any circumstance decamp the party onto critical national information systems. No! No! No!” he exclaimed.

Barker-Vormawor questioned how this redirection could have occurred without someone having access to the backend of the government domain and a sign-off from someone who should have known better.

He emphasized the need for adherence to administrative protocols and seeking legal advice before taking such actions.

The Fix The Country convenor called for an investigation into the incident and a formal apology.

“Early days yet, but it’s important the new Gov cuts out such rookie mistakes. A word to the wise,” he concluded.
